Co - Curricular Activities

The following  activities/ Events which were conducted in the last ‘academic year during July -2014 to May-2015

  • "A Two Day Workshop on “ Advanced Non Destructive Method to Assess the Residual Stress in Weldments and Other Engineering Components (NDMARS2014)” to be held on 17 – 18, July 2014  was conducted in SaIT .
  • A FOSAMECH (Forum of Sambhram Mechanical) Committee was formed on 6th of November 2014. The Committee was formed for the students of Mechanical Engineering with aim of improving their technical Skills, motivating them to take up research work, attending Conferences/ seminars to improve their  skills & upgrade their knowledge by attending guest lecturers from resource persons for various industries, placement assistance. Etc.
    The inaugural function of FOSAMECH was held on 06-11-2014 in R Venkatesh Auditorium at SaIT Campus. Mr. Kashinath patna shetty, Director, Value addition courses, A C E Micromatrics was the Chief Guest addressing students and enlightened about need of value addition to their professional degree.
  • A Two Day Workshop on “Teaching Methodology in ThermodynamicsThermodyn 15” was organized in SaIT Campus on 12th & 13th February 2015 for the benefit of the faculty of V T U affiliated College along with the students of SaIT’s Mechanical engineering department.
  • On 17th April 2015, a guest lecture on “Design of Machine Elements was arranged in Department of Mechanical Engineering. The resource person was Dr M H ANNAIAH Professor and Head of the Department, Automobile Engg. ,Acharya Institute of Technology, Bangalore. Dr Annaiah has authored good number of books on the subject, being aware of the pulse of the students and made our students face the examination confidently in that subject
  • A competition on 'Technical paper presentation' was organized on 19th May 2015 to bring out the hidden technical talents of the department.
  • SHRISHTI 15 was organized by ABVP at New Horizon College of Engineering, Bangalore. Our Mechanical Engg students participated and presented the project entitled SOLAR CHIMNEY-1. Shri Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala Honorable Governor of Karnataka shown keen interest on the prospects of ‘solar chimney for power generation’ in India.
  • Mech Manthana/Darshana -15 an exhibition of project works of outgoing students was arranged on 20th May 2015 .The projects were evaluated by the external academicians and expert from industry and R &D organizations to identify the best ones.
  • The Valedictory of FOSAMECH  was held on the same evening with Mr Manjunath, Dy. G M of Min. of Power, Govt. of India, who highlighted the potential for Mechanial Engineers in Power Sector
  • Good interaction with Industry being ‘a member for Institute - Industry Consortium of I M T M A (Indian Machine Tool Manufacturer’s Association)
  • Department of Mechanical engineering Sambhram Institute of Technology in collaboration with AEROTRIX is organizing a two day work shop on R C Aircraft Design on 3rd and 4th September 2015.

Expertise available:

Metal Foam processing and Characterization; Kinetic Spray Coating; Composite Materials; High Temperature Ceramics & Ceramic Coating; Severe Plastic Deformation for Super Plasticity of metallic materials.

Residual Stress measurements of materials/components using XRD & MBN techniques for power, aerospace, automobile, railways, defence and other engineering industries, NDT method of measurements like UT, MPI etc., Failure analysis of engineering components.
