Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI&DS)

Information science and Engineering is originally a basic study to elucidate the mechanism of information processing in such biotic behavior as thinking, decision making, perception, and learning and a study to develop devices which can simulate those activities. Information science is applied to all fields of study, including the natural sciences, the arts and humanities, technology and social science, and has brought about revolutions in these areas.

The Faculty of information Science and Technology offers engineering and industry oriented subjects where the students can excel in the interested domain. These diversified programmes are application-oriented and are designed to produce competent graduates who can apply theories in practice. Our students are set to participate in industrial and research projects with a strong applied nature for industrial, commercial and community needs. They will be trained to think critically and analytically, thus standing them in good stead in their future professions and making them highly valued by employers.

Our team of professors and lecturers has an unswerving dedication to provide a caring environment and a gateway for aspiring students to pursue lifelong learning. We will always be around to help any and all, even after graduation and beyond.

ABOUT DEPARTMENT

The Information Science & Engineering programme at SAIT was started in 2001, and is designed to prepare students to gain extensive knowledge of tools and techniques of information processing. These days we need connectivity of data across the globe and we need it at the click of the mouse. That is the challenge Information Technology has to meet. The department is well known for consistent performance in academic results and placement.

The department offers an undergraduate course of eight semesters, as per the VTU syllabus leading to a bachelor’s degree in information science.

The department of  Data Science that focuses on practical applications of collected and analyzed data is Data Science engineering. It is a multidisciplinary field encompassing Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Statistics, and Management. The department has good infrastructure and computing facilities for academic and Research activities. The department has well experienced, highly qualified, dedicated faculties to support students in their academics, co-curricular ,extracurricular and personals. The department has a strong prominence on innovation and research. Data Science enables companies to efficiently understand gigantic data from multiple sources and derive valuable insights to make smarter data-driven decisions. Data Science is widely used in various industry domains, including marketing, healthcare, finance, banking, policy work, and more. Our institution provides students with a platform to improve their employment skills and also provide opportunities to work on consultancy projects and internships.
