Overview

Since its inception in 2001, the Department has consistently strived to provide well-rounded education by combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to meet the evolving demands of the industry. In addition to covering the VTU syllabus, the department goes beyond by organizing regular seminars, workshops, conferences, and technical talks led by eminent personalities from academia, research, and industry. These initiatives have contributed to our students achieving excellent results and securing placements in prestigious national and international companies such as Infosys, Sonata, TCS, Wipro, Texas Instruments, and Intel. Many of our students are also pursuing higher studies at top universities worldwide.

The department encourages hands-on learning through internships, industrial visits, and innovative projects. Students are given the opportunity to begin their projects from the first year, fostering early engagement with real-world applications. Each year, our final-year student projects are selected for funding by renowned organizations such as KSCST, Anveshana, Srushti, IEEE, and more.

The department offers an undergraduate program with an intake of 180 students, including the shift course, as well as a PhD program. We are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for both students and faculty to engage in research activities. The faculty and students are regularly trained on the latest technological advancements, embracing a practical teaching methodology.

Additionally, the department boasts a Centre of Excellence in VLSI & Embedded Systems and is proud to house the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IP Cell. It also features a Student Teaching and Learning Center, along with industry-supported laboratories from Wipro, Intel, Texas Instruments, and a Virtual Laboratory in collaboration with NITK Suratkal.

A Message From

HOD

Since its inception in 2001, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) has been committed to providing equal opportunities and a platform for students not only to pursue academics but also to engage in technical, sports, and cultural activities. With a robust proctor system, continuous performance monitoring, and mental and moral support, the department helps students learn, unlearn, and master both theoretical concepts and practical technologies.

The department ensures that students acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills by introducing value-added courses, training programs, Skill Development Programs (SDPs), project competitions, and more. We also actively support students in publishing technical papers, filing patents, and participating in conferences, workshops, and seminars.

In alignment with the vision and mission of the institution, the department strives to prepare students for both core and non-core industrial roles, ensuring they are ready to secure well-paying jobs in multinational and government organizations. We take pride in the success of our students, many of whom have not only become employees but also employers, starting their own startups.

The department welcomes students from India and abroad, providing world-class education in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
