Facilities
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Sambhram Institute of Technology, affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), boasts state-of-the-art computing facilities designed to support advanced academic and research activities. Each laboratory is meticulously designed to accommodate 30 students per session, fostering an environment conducive to collaborative learning and hands-on experience. The department is equipped with a total of 287 computer systems, complemented by essential peripheral devices, to ensure comprehensive access to cutting-edge technology.
To guarantee uninterrupted learning and research, all laboratories are supported by an efficient UPS power backup system. Additionally, the computer systems are seamlessly connected through a robust Wi-Fi and Local Area Network (LAN), enabling efficient data exchange and resource sharing across the laboratories. Furthermore, all laboratories are equipped with modern projector facilities to facilitate interactive teaching, presentations, and demonstrations. These facilities collectively provide an optimal environment for students and faculty to engage in academic excellence and technological innovation.
The Department has a well-furnished Seminar hall with a Smart Board, Audio System and Projector facility. Seminars, Workshops, Technical Talks and various other technical and non-technical events are conducted regularly in the seminar hall for the benefit of students

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING LABORATORY
This is the first computer laboratory that the students are introduced to in their first year of engineering. In this lab students get an opportunity to understand simple problem statements and identify appropriate solutions. They understand how to use an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), C Compiler, and identify and rectify the syntax and semantic errors during programming. Students understand the process of development of algorithms and programs using constructs of C programming language.
DATA STRUCTURES & ALGORITHMS LABORATORY
Students are introduced to Data Structures laboratory in the 3rd semester and Algorithms Lab in the 4th semester. In Data Structures laboratory, basic data structures like arrays, stacks, queues, linked lists, trees etc. and operations associated with them are implemented using C programming language. In Algorithms lab, students design, develop and implement algorithms for various problems like Sorting, Searching, Knapsack Problem, Single Source Shortest Path problem, Minimal Spanning Tree problem, All Pairs Shortest Path problem etc. using C or JAVA programming language.
DBMS LABORATORY
Students get introduced to DBMS lab in the 4th semester. In this lab, students will design, develop, and implement specified queries for a variety of problems using Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, or any other DBMS under LINUX/Windows environment. Students will also create Schema and insert records in tables and add appropriate database constraints. In addition, the students must also develop a simple database application using Java, C#, PHP, Python, or any other similar front-end tool as a mini project.
WEB TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY
Students get introduced to WT lab in the 5th semester. In this lab, students learn HTML 5 elements and their use, use of CSS for enhanced user interface presentation. Students also gain knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX, PHP and jQuery for dynamic presentation. From the knowledge gained in this lab, students will be in a position to design and develop Websites and Web applications.
WEB TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY
Students get introduced to ML lab in the 6th semester. In this lab, students get introduced to various machine learning algorithms such as similarity-based learning, regression, decision trees, and clustering. Students also become familiar with data and visualize univariate, bivariate, and multivariate data using statistical techniques and dimensionality reduction. Students familiarize themselves with learning theories, probability-based models and develop the skills required for decision-making in dynamic environments

Teaching Learning Process
Teaching is an active process where information is shared to help individuals improve, while learning is the assimilation of this information, leading to personal growth. The teaching-learning process is a planned interaction aimed at promoting progress, distinct from natural growth or coincidence.
The objective of the teaching-learning process is to define the scope of a degree program or course and the overall learning outcomes. The university designs courses based on current industry needs, and the department follows an advanced teaching-learning process to meet these requirements and enhance student competency. This includes faculty preparing PowerPoint presentations and using pedagogical methods with analogies.
To improve faculty quality, the department organizes Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and sends faculty members to attend FDPs at industries like Infosys, Wipro, and other universities. The department’s teaching-learning process aims to strengthen students’ skills and achieve good university results, making them industry-ready.
At the start of each academic year, students are divided into groups of 15-20, each supervised by a faculty member (proctor). The proctor tracks students’ progress through feedback, attendance, and addresses learning challenges. These groups focus on improving communication skills and confidence through presentations, group discussions, and debates.
The department’s strong teaching-learning process contributes to excellent university results and the production of university rank holders. Additionally, industry experts and academicians are invited to share knowledge on emerging technologies and industry trends, further enhancing the students’ learning
